Erin recommends...

Over the past couple of months read and seen things (books, movies, sites, etc.) that are a crime not to share with my friends. so here it is. I'm going to do these things in parts so...
Part 1 - Books:

Vampires, my latest kick
1. Sunshine by Robin Mckinley
Very good near future book about a baker named Sunshine who gets caught by some vampires to feed a captive vampire...very good, very hard to put down.
2. Undead And Unwed by MaryJanice Davidson
very funny, for a romance book, this story is about Betsy, a shoe-ahloic who is not your ordinary vampire. this books 3 main white hats strangely resemble myself, melissa and our friend James...a sequel, undead and unemployed is due out in August
3. Blood series by Tanya Huff
A classic of the genre, it stars PI Vicki, a former Toronto police detective who becames entangled in the supernatural world after meeting Henry Fitzroy, bastard son of Henry VIII, now a romance author
4. Diana Tregarde series by Mercedes Lackey
not as well known as some others, these books focus on Diana a Guardian who fights Bad supernatural things. only the first book really deals with vampires but all are very good.
5. Anita Blake Series by Laurell K Hamilton
a series about an alternate universe, focusing on Anita Blake, an animator and vampire executioner. Definitely rated R, lots of violence and sex. it's kind of gone down hill but it's still quite an escape

Kid's books
1. The Tortall Books by Tamora Pierce
She's pretty good, and i've been reading these books for like the past 10 years. The first is the song of the lioness, which is the story of Alanna, who wants to become a Knight of Tortall, even though she's a girl, the next is Wild Mage, which is about Daine who can talk to animals with magic, the third is called protector of the small, with stars Kel, who is the first lady who legally tries for knighthood...the latest is about Alanna's daughter who is spying and leading a revoloution.
2. Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
If you have seen the movie, read the book...even if you haven't seen the movie read the book. It's a retelling of the story of Cinderella. Ella is a girl who has had the misfortune to be gifted with obedience. this book details her quest. The movie handles the story in a different way, and cuts out a lot of stuff.

Other Books
1. The Boy next door and Boy meets Girl by Meg Cabot
By the author of the Princess diaries, these books tell the tale of 2 different romances at the new york journal. Nothing extraordinary there. What makes this quite entertaining is that the story is told completly through emails, instant messenger chats and journal entries. very entertaining and a lot is left to the imagination

anyways that's it for now....but I'll leave you with this tidbit....The title of the next Harry Potter Book is...
HArry Potter and the Halfblooded Prince
